Day 1

On arrival after clearing passport control and customs, collect your luggage and proceed to the Arrivals Hall. Here you will be met by a Luxury Trips representative for your road transfer to Hotel Quintinha Sao Joao where you will stay for four nights.

Day 2

In the morning after breakfast, meet your driver in the lobby of your hotel for your Full Day Tour and Canyoning in Ribeira das Cales.

Enjoy a full morning of excitement, starting at “Chão da Lagoa” in the Ecological Park of Funchal at approximately 1500 meters high. Along the route you’ll find 2 rappels, and you’ll need to rappel, swim and jump in order to advance. This experience is the best for all those who want to have their first contact with this amazing sport.

This is a small group activity, which is fun and exciting with and includes an expert guide to make the most of your day.

A neoprene suit is included- so you will just need to bring your bathing suits, a change of clothes… and lots of enthusiasm!

Day 3

Today you will be met in the lobby of your hotel for your Small Group Whale and Dolphin Experience.

On one of the most magical experiences of the journey you will enjoy whale and dolphin watching and have a chance to swim with them! This is a small group of young and active tourists and will be quite a unique and unforgettable experience!

The rest of the day is at leisure to continue exploring the island at your own pace and leisure.

Day 4

Today you will enjoy a Full Day Private Surf Tour. At a time determined the day prior based on weather, you will be met and transferred to the Madeira archipelago.

The Madeira archipelago is a privileged spot for surf lovers, with all sort of waves- from point breaks to reef breaks, that have given it its well-earned fame as a quality surf location.

During this day you will enjoy a private surf tour with your private vehicle picking you up at the hotel and driving you to the best spot depending on the climate conditions on this day, to practice this exciting sport (full day private activity- all equipment included).

Day 5

The morning will be yours at leisure to explore the wonderful city of Funchal and have time to explore a shop a bit.

This afternoon you will be met at your hotel for your private road transfer to the airport where you will board a direct flight to Porto.

On arrival you will be met by a Luxury Trips representative and transferred to 1982 River House where you will stay for four nights.

Day 6

Today will be yours at leisure to explore the beautiful city of Porto, a colorful dream with medieval relics, soaring bell towers, extravagant baroque churches and stately beaux-arts buildings piled on top of one another- with its center- the Ribera district- having been declared World Heritage Site.

Roam the Historic Centre, Sé Cathedral, Bolhão Market, Santa Catarina shopping street, Clérigos Church and Tower, Lello Bookshop, São Bento Train Station, Stock Exchange Palace, Ribeira Square, finally crossing the Douro River on the Eiffel inspired Dom Luis Bridge.

At 5:00pm, make your way independently to Ribeira Square (4-minute walk) where you will board your 5:30pm Jet Boat Ride. Your 25-minute trip promises to be a truly unforgettable experience!

Day 7

It is said that through a unique landscape of mountains and river, one of the most famous God nectars was born: Port wine. Designated UNESCO World Heritage, the wine valleys of the Douro region provide some of the most spectacular scenery in Portugal, and the sprawling mountainous landscape of the Douro Valley itself is perhaps the most beautiful of all.

At 9 am, meet your driver in the lobby of your hotel for your Full Day Touring.

Start with a leisurely drive in a private van through this magnificent countryside en route to Portugal’s wine country, where you will enjoy a wonderful experience at an award winning winery where you will indulge in an impressive picnic lunch in the vineyards consisting of Portuguese specialties at the estate paired with their prestigious wines, followed then by a guided tour of the wine cellar finishing with (more) wine tasting.

In the afternoon, a three-hour cruise on a private boat will take you along the River Douro, enjoying the sights, sounds and aromas of this beautiful river through an enchanting landscape.

Day 8

Today you will have another day to explore this amazing area, and taste the culinary delicacies that it offers!

At 9 am, meet your driver for your transfer to your cooking class located in an award winning wine estate overlooking the Douro River.

After visiting the breathtaking vineyard and wine tanks, and sampling the wine, we will head to the kitchen to discover some Portuguese culinary and cultural delights. Relax after the cooking class and indulge in the Portuguese traditional lunch that you have just learned to prepare, accompanied by excellent wine!

Relax on your trip back to Porto after a day of gastronomic delights!

The remainder of the day will be yours at leisure.

Day 9

At 9 am, a private vehicle will take you on a transfer/tour to the town of Mafra, in the center of Portugal and not far from Lisbon.

During this tour, you will have the opportunity to visit Obidos, a charming walled town with streets bursting with local handicrafts, ceramics, linens and souvenirs, and another UNESCO heritage site -Coimbra- a pristine town boasting the second oldest university in the world.

If time permits, you will also visit the Alcobaça Monastery, a real architectonic wonder.

At the end of the trip, you will reach Quinta do Brejo where you will stay for three nights.

Day 10

Today will be a free day to relax and explore your surroundings. You could visit the nearby city of Mafra with its monumental baroque palace, or maybe reach the pristine beaches of Ericeira, is Portugal’s headquarters for surfing and one of the centers of the sport for the European continent.

Day 11

Enjoy another free day to relax, and view your beautiful surroundings, and maybe consider some horse riding!

Please note that horse riding lessons/horse riding tour are an additional cost of 50€/pax that could be paid directly to the owners of the farm.

Day 12

Today after breakfast you will be met and transferred to Lisbon, visiting en route yet another UNESCO world heritage site- the incredible city of Sintra- with its 19th century Romantic buildings, and the many Estates, Castles and Royal Retreats that surround it.

But the best is yet to come: spread across steep hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo, Lisbon awaits to captivate our clients, as it has captivated millions of visitors during centuries. Windswept “vistas” reveal the city in all its beauty: Roman and Moorish ruins, white-domed cathedrals, grand plazas lined with sun-drenched cafes.

The real delight though, is discovering and delving into the narrow cobblestone lanes.

As yellow trams clatter through tree-lined streets, lisboêtas stroll through lamplit old quarters, much as they’ve done for centuries. Gossip is exchanged over fresh bread and wine in tiny patio restaurants while nostalgic fado singers perform in the background…

Finishing at the Bairro Alto Hotel where you will stay for four nights.

Day 13

Today you will be picked up for your private half day tour of Lisbon.

This tour will help you discover the Capital city of Lisbon. In the capital city of Lisbon, one of the first sights you will see is the April 25th Suspension Bridge, sister to the Golden Gate, and the towering Christ the King Statue. We will venture through the main squares and avenues with a short walking tour in the old district of Alfama, St. Jorge Castle, you will then continue to Rossio, Chiado and Bairro Alto. In the afternoon you head to Belém where you visit the Jeronimos Monastery, the Tower of Belém and taste the famous “Pasteis de Belém” Lisbon’s exquisite pastry delicacies.

In the evening, let your time be filled with the music and excitement of the NosAlive Festival in Lisbon.

Day 14

Today will be yours at leisure to recover from the concert and get ready for another night full of sound and wonderful family memories!

Day 15

After a good rest to recover from the night excitement, take the rest of the day to roam freely around this enchanting city, complete those visits that you just cannot miss, and maybe go for some shopping.

In the evening, enjoy an opportunity to change the tune completely and go for some local fado- the traditional song of Portugal, characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor, the hopelessness and the loss, and infused with a sentiment of resignation, fatefulness and melancholia, loosely captured by the Portuguese word saudade, or “longing”.
